BOOM BUST and RENEWAL - NAME of the BEAST !

Around 11 years ago the world was buzzing with the knowledge that the World Wide Web was going to change everything and that everybody had to get on that "investment ride" or they would totally miss the bus. 
Well being first does not always pay. Just ask Speedskate champion Steven Bradbury who cleaned up the gold medal after the crush of leaders at the front collided and collapsed.

And so it was that the herd rushed headlong into throwing money at "businesses"  who didn't actually have a proper business (just a plan to spend a lot of money), and a hope that speculators would push share prices to the point where they could sell their share and make money from other people's foolish spend. Was anyone really suprised when the latecomers and big spenders lost it ?  At some point reality checks always draw the market back into balance, after all the bills must be paid.

IN REALITY, most new businesses start by losing money as there are expenses to get going, consumers to round up and systems to put in place. That's not a problem if your business model has a plan to get you past that stage. 
And not necessarily one that involves scamming other people's money, talking up the shareprice and then abandoning ship which was and probably still is the model of  many boom time businesses.
At the top of any growth cycle there are always going to be those who want a shortcut, a free ride and those who are just plain greedy.
So it's Boom and it's bust but where are we now  ?  Now I'm just talking about the World Wide Web, not the Global Financial Meltdown, that's another matter with a  similar story about the herd following the lead's greed..

In fact the "net" spend on computers is bigger than ever. Sorry for the pun. All jokes are finished from this point...............

My smart money is on those who make well-considered decisions based on not just a good idea, but some solid work with research & expertise as well.  The world is still riding the boom in internet and computer use and there are no signs it is ever going to stop, slow down or ever going away.
What are you doing for your business and how do people find you ?   It  is still going to be a lot to do with having a web presence and a communication base that includes internet services, and naturally sales resulting from being better connected and highly visible. There is still all that other stuff, TV, radio and posters but one thing is 100% certain, the internet has broken the monopoly on the traditional media's abilty to reach an audience or a customer.
A good name, a meaningful name or a catchy name is going to help you attract long lasting brand power. Yes.. BOOM BUST and RENEWAL - NAME THAT BEAST OF YOURS ! Whatever your registered business name or company, it is well worth considering or reconsidering other appropriate trading names that might boost the flow of milk and honey to your door.
With so many people yet to establish a decent web presence it's a safe bet that there will be opportunities in this field for many years to come.
