A short warranty means the manufacturer has little confidence in its durability and Marshall's web-site makes no claim to durability.
Try to buy and demand products carrying a long warranty ! Come on consumers do it !
Examples of companies with good warranties - Yamaha 5 years on PAs, JBL 5 years ! Phonic 5 years ! Peavey 5 years !
In past times of multiple failing appliances, I swore I wouldn't buy anything unless the warranty was long. Something like 3-5 years for an average appliance seems reasonable but somehow I'd forgotten.Silly me !
I bought an amp and wanting reliability, went for the BIG NAME brand. Here is the reality check on this $1200 paperweight.
MARSHALL OR MARSHAN'T  ??? This UK built Marshall amp bought Nov. 2004, failed in June 2006. As a gig amp only, that came to 35 gigs over 6 months. Maybe an hour a week for the year before on the studio floor. Not many hours for a so called " primo " product. About  200 hours total life. I had it fixed (dry solder problem) but these problems are tricky as they often fault intermittently, only as the product heats up especially when using it for a gig.So it took several repairmen trips to pinpoint the problem as it wouldn't fault on demand, only when I was working with it.
Is that fair value ?? Is that a good item to own ?  No.
Yes say 1000 Marshall Employees, 50 000 salesmen and a few players with a lucky sponsorship deal and shareholders. (Yep, me against the world.)
Save your money. I'll leave this anti-ad here on my web-site until eternity as a memorial to the death  of- the Marshall AVT-100 combo.
I don't expect to have a problem free life & I know things sometimes fail. I'm simply disappointed with the unsupportive response I got from both the music shop & Marshall itself.  If it sounds like sour grapes, it is ! Long live consumer's revenge!!!! I want value & reliability.
My
Line 6 Spider Practice Amp has been dragged around here and there and it has been very reliable. It's so usable as the 4 (software set) channels are super easy to set and get great sounds. Roadtested over the last 6 years and recommended. I wish I'd bought a bigger one instead of the Marshall.
I use a JBL EON G15 for my stage monitor and it sounds fantastic. What a versatile piece of gear it is, being fantastic as a vocal monitor or even front of house with 400 watts power and a 5 year warranty. Sounds great playing a bass through it or a guitar with an effect pedal. Roadtested over the last 5 years and  Recommended.
I bought another Line 6 120 watt Spider 3 with twin 10s in it. Cheap and good. Recommended !  (so I did get a bigger one!) Lots of great controllable sounds in this, easily stored for quick live changes. And much much cheaper than the Marshall.
I've been using a Pod Live XT floor FX unit for guitar for the last 5 years or more and no problems with that either ! Had a good life out of Roland gear too. Come on Marshall, stand up for your product and give it some back-up.  I've had (out of warranty) products fail like my LG phone and that company fixed it anyway. Yes I will buy another LG product. Yes I will tell my friends, and yes I will publish information about companies with good products and those that try to get it right if their product fails.
My advice - seek out long warranties & companies who provide these as the norm with their products.
